Description: The AVJ out of the RSK wing after the first fight was found by Dogmachine. Big thanks for that, since it allows you to restock on health and ammo before the final fight. There is another AVJ you can do with that same vile to cheese the final RSK fight, but it is very precise, and the angle that the vile zaps you from is always changing, so I decided not to go for it. You have to jump onto the side wall and then trigger the linedef for the fight to start before dropping down to the secret fights.
It wasn't until I was discussing the map with Lucky_Edie on discord that I realized (from a passing remark) that you only need 1 key to open the door to the RJ wing of the map! (Even though it is marked with all three colors! It never occurred to me to click on it before having all the keys!) This proved to be very helpful, since I consider that wing to be the most inconsistent part of the map.
I've been working on this map for about 2 months, but I didn't really start grinding attempts until the beginning of August.
I tried basically all the routing orders, and I settled on doing the YSK without a backpack and bfg because the only fight that I just could never get more than 1/5 consistency at is after the RJ. So I just rushed that fight. I used to do Secret BFG off starting room -> BSK -> RJ, but I got sick of dying 40+ minutes in to that dreadful fight.
I had 4-5 really late deaths. The worst was when I ran out of ammo on the 2nd to last BSK fight (when that was all that was left) and I had to start the chaingunner vile wave before clearing the room to get access to more rockets. I choked failing to grab a soulsphere.
This was a very messy run. I spent yesterday raging at this map. Then I woke up this morning and before eating breakfast, with a bit of head ache and my hand already sore, I did this run.
The final BSK fight can be way more consistent (if you dont get scammed by a rocket from across the room), but I forgot to grab rockets when looping around. I wouldn't recommend killing that 2nd HK group that early because it caused the cacos to go too far back behind me so I had to bfg early.
The 1% moment in the 2nd secret fight was ridiculous! The barons forced me to push to the far side before I could grab that close mega. Usually I would wait to grab that close mega and then push across.
I got robbed and choked so many deep runs that I knew this was just a matter of time.
In the early good attempts I wasn't that nervous, but in this run I was just as nervous as toward the end of hf240, if not more so.
