Description:
Just for a bit of context. This is my first ever doom speedrun, as I have never attempted any runs before. The reason I wanted to do LOR's Map 14 "Brink" is because I was always curious of the "proper" strategies to some of the encounters in this map. I've seen some people complain of the large Archvile wave and the Final Tyrant fight in this map, so I came up strategies to those fights and realized I could probably speedrun this map too. Probably won't pursue speedrunning in the future. This was more of a one time thing.

Sub 6:30 is 100% possible based on some of my practice attempts (PB is 6:28 with saves), but I don't want to invest the time for that. Having a clean 7:00 is good enough for me. There's a lot of RNG in this map, so having a faster time isn't impossible. There also wasn't really anything I actually messed up in the run, except maybe for some minor things but overall I am proud of this run. Also I had a strategy for each section of the map. Thought I should mention it since this is my first demo and its not like I didn't practice anything :p

Anyways here's some miscellaneous notes about the run:
-Vassago's are not as dangerous as they seem. They have high pain chance and a direct hit from their Flames and melee attack deals less damage than a Hell Noble so don't be afraid to run through them. Similarly the Incinerator's splash damage isn't that strong and has a small radius. Don't be afraid to run through Vassago's or use the Incinerator up close if need be.

-You have to be smart with the Calamity Blade's Charges. Similar to the BFG, you want to get up close to maximize the projectiles that hit a target but also be aware you don't always need to fully charge the Calamity Blade for it to be effective

-The Maze is the worst part of trying to attempt runs for this map. Limited resources, monsters being herded to the most random places, and tight spaces with splash damage. You can either clear the Maze really quick or really slow because of these factors

-The fact none of the Cybies (Cyberdemons and Tyrants) got stuck during the Maze transition is amazing. The entire point of not killing the Cybies prior to the maze was so that I can use bring them into the maze to infight the Vassagos and save some time doing so. Usually multiple Cybies gets stuck on the ledges of the maze

-The large Archvile wave in the "Nuke section" isn't too that bad. Just remember to clear the room, pre-charge the Calamity Blade, and that Archviles have will instantly infight upon being damaged by other Monsters. The Vassago's lingering flame will cause a lot of Archviles to start infighting.

-Theres a stupid bug I've encountered with the Calamity Blade where the "Ripper Projectiles" will sometimes "break(?)" when hitting a monster instead of piercing them. This is most prevalent in the final fight where I encountered it the most and definitely lost time because of that. You can see when I start the fight by pre-charging the Blade and try to blast the large group of Tyrants but the projectiles break for some reason. I don't know why it happens but in practice I normally damage a large chuck of Tyrants in the beginning of the fight but couldn't in this run
