90 attempts later and my very first demo finally gets replaced by a significantly better attempt. All the way back in October a UV Max run of this map, was completed as my very first demo. The reason for that, is because I've seen a lot of people complain about MAP 14 from Legacy of Rust as there's seemingly a lot of unfair fights with no strategies. Well, I was able to come up with strategies for each major fight of this map and decided that I could probably speedrun this map too and so I did.

Honestly that old run was very flawed in a lot of ways, (hence the ~32-ish second improvement), but I was satisfied enough so I decided to upload it. I didn't think I would pursue Doom Speedrunning after that, but it was a lot of fun recording that first demo, so I decided to try out more LoR maps. I still don't really consider myself a speedrunner since I don't think I'm that good compared to a lot of other players. I still try to get a fast time when doing these runs, so I think by definition I am a speedrunner :p

Overall this was a really great run with no a lot of mistakes.

I was able to improve the Maze section by understanding the map more (aka knowing where the resources are, and where all the monsters teleport in). Each Archvile cove has 100 fuel in total and health, so I made sure I grabbed those fuel cans first whenever I ran out, so I wouldn't have to backtrack as often. Also each corner of the Maze contains at least 1 Fuel Can.
-Grabbing both keys is good, depending on where you end up when you reach 38 kills
-MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE EASTERN SOUTH CORNER AS ITS VERY COMMON TO HAVE A STUCK MONSTER IN THAT CORNER (in this case it was a Tyrant)
-Any Cybies that fall into the Maze can be good for infighting and saving ammunition. But there's also a chance for them to get stuck, and its honestly unreliable at times.

The "Nuke Fight" before the final fight was a bit sloppy compared to my other attempts, but it was by no means bad. Had bad positioning at the beginning where I needed another charge shot to break through the Vassagos and getting zapped by an Archvile definitely threw me off and caused me to waste some ammo. Getting zapped by an Archvile as you shoot a charge shot, can cause the projectiles to fly over the monster's head. Also almost died, but I think I just got hit by some high damage rolls.

The Final Fight itself was pretty flawless, aside from running out of ammo. Still a chance of getting hit by rockets, especially if the Tyrants feel super aggressive, but my same old strategy still works fine. Just make sure you look ahead before "crossing the street" so you don't get a facerocket. You really need to pay attention to the rockets so you don't get hit. Single charge shots from the Calamity Blade at a distance is also effective due to the large size of the Tyrants, how they group up together, and their low health.

So yeah, GGs.
