I was approached recently to attempt a co-op run, so I knew I needed to download Woof, understand setting up co-op and joining co-op sessions, configure the port to match as close as possible how DSDA feels for me, and then I decided to get used to playing in the port by trying a run. I chose this one because it's UV-Max, is not slaughter (requires timing/precision which are most important to test differences in how this feels between ports, slaughter is just way less precise), it's Sunlust, and it's not a Henning E1 run (bless the OGs).

The movement feels off compared to DSDA-Doom, like strafing and movement particularly feels more stiff in comparison, so I did not try too many crazy shots or precise movement here. It was definitely a bit more of a mechanical approach that reminds me of watching some other runners. For instance, the first SSG shot to clear zombiemen at the exit when going for the vile, I simply strafed directly left with a somewhat locked angle as I shot, whereas in DSDA-Doom I probably would do a more fluid movement and shot. But in general I did more simple strafes right/left only without turning much due to feeling a bit uncertain and having a foreign feel.

As for the run, I pretty much copied mhrz route. I tried using rockets on main group of enemies outside for cleanup, but it just seemed slower/inconsequential, so I opted to rocket through the window in the YC building like he does. I shoot chaingunner in YC building where the rev + 2 imps are, to try to trigger him to fire at them, damaging them while they kill him, but other than that it's virtually the same route. This demo is pretty ugly and I was not trying for super optimization here. Way faster is possible, even through just cleaning up mistakes, before getting to grinding pure RNG with infighting/rockets.

Honestly if I did not get the .97 on this 1:23, I probably would've grinded for faster, but 1:23.97 to beat a mhrz run is always classic.

I probably will not do any more SP runs on Woof, unless it's to derust to prep before a co-op run with someone. I intend to only really use this port for co-op demos. Not a bad port, but so used to DSDA-Doom at this point, and DSDA-Doom has more QoL like rewind and stuff.
